Stream overlays are graphics for your stream. Apex Racing hosts them, so you add a link to OBS and there are no files to keep up to date. When you change your racing identity, every overlay shows the change.
What You Get
You get seven overlays, all at 1920 × 1080:
| Overlay | Type | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Starting Soon | Scene | A countdown to the start of your stream |
| Be Right Back | Scene | A break screen |
| Stream Over | Scene | The end of your stream |
| iRacing | In-game card | Your name, the sim, your handles and a LIVE marker |
| F1 25 | In-game card | The same, for F1 25 |
| Automobilista 2 | In-game card | The same, for AMS2 |
| Le Mans Ultimate | In-game card | The same, for LMU |
A scene fills the screen. An in-game card has a transparent background, so it sits on top of your game capture.
The in-game cards show who you are. They do not show telemetry. To show live values such as your position or your last lap, build your own overlay (see below).
The name, the race number, the team and the handles come from Settings → Racing identity.
Add the Overlays to OBS
Open Settings → Stream overlays. There are two ways to add the overlays.
All Scenes at Once
- Click Download scene collection. You get the file
apex-racing-overlays.json. - In OBS, open Scene Collection → Import and select the file.
- Select the new scene collection. It has one scene for each overlay, with the names "Apex · Starting Soon", "Apex · Be Right Back" and so on.
One Overlay at a Time
- Click Copy next to an overlay.
- In OBS, add a Browser source.
- Paste the link into the URL field and set the size to 1920 × 1080.
For Starting Soon, set the time of your start next to the overlay before you copy the link. The countdown goes to that time. Without a time, it goes to 21:00.
Build Your Own Overlay
You can show live values from your current session on a page that you make yourself. Add one script line and give each element a data-apex name:
<script src="https://apexracing.io/embed/overlay.js" data-key="YOUR_TOKEN"></script>
<span data-apex="position"></span>
<span data-apex="last_lap"></span>
The settings section shows this snippet with your token. Click Copy to copy it with the real token.
| Name | Shows |
|---|---|
track |
The track name |
lap |
The current lap, and the total when the session has one (14 / 28) |
current_lap |
The current lap |
total_laps |
The total laps of the session |
last_lap |
Your last lap time (1:48.276) |
best_lap |
Your best lap time of the session |
position |
Your position (P3) |
state |
flying, inpit, outlap or cooldown |
speed |
Your speed in km/h |
gear |
Your gear |
rpm |
The engine rpm |
fuel |
The fuel in the tank |
tire_compound |
The tire compound |
tire_age |
The age of the tires in laps |
A value that is not available shows --.
Lap times and positions get their format automatically. To change it, add data-apex-format="laptime", "position" or "raw". For full control, listen for the apex:tick event on window: event.detail holds all values.
When the Values Change
p0 sends the live values while you drive. Each game gives them at a different rate:
| Game | New values |
|---|---|
| F1 25 and F1 24 | Every 2 seconds |
| Automobilista 2 | Every 5 seconds |
| Le Mans Ultimate | Every 5 seconds |
| iRacing | No live values |
Between sessions, and when the feed is paused, your own overlay shows --. The hosted cards and scenes stay on screen.
Live values need the trial or a plan. Without one, the feed sends no values.
Keep Your Token Safe
Each overlay link and the script line contain your token. A person with the token can see the live values of your current session. The token cannot sign in to your account, and it cannot change anything.
- Keep the links and the token off screen.
- To stop the live values for a time, set the Live switch to Paused. The links stay the same.
- When a link gets out, click Regenerate. All old links and your own overlay page stop at once. Then copy the new links into OBS, and put the new token into your own page.
