Which overlays do I get?

Three scenes and a card for each game.

Each overlay is a web page at 1920 × 1080. A scene fills the screen. An in-game card has a transparent page and sits in a free part of the game’s HUD.

Scenes for the breaks

Starting Soon counts down to your start time. Be Right Back and Stream Over fill the pause and the end.

Starting Soon: ?at=21:30 sets the time, else 21:00
A card for each game

Each game has its own layout, around the standings, the mirror and the map of that game.

AMS2: one card at the mirror, one rail on the right edge
Your racing identity

Your name, your sim and your X, YouTube and Twitch handles come from your settings. A blank handle stays off.

How do I add them to OBS?

Copy one link, or import all seven.

Settings, Stream overlays gives you a link for each overlay. Paste a link into a browser source, or download the scene collection and import it in OBS.

One link for each overlay

Each row has a preview and a Copy button. Copy all links puts the 7 links on the clipboard.

One import for all

The scene collection makes one scene with one browser source for each overlay. The in-game sources get a transparent page.

apex-racing-overlays.json: 7 scenes
No file to keep current

We host the overlay pages. A new design shows on your next stream, and you change nothing in OBS.

The link is the only thing you keep
Can an overlay show my live data?

Yes, with one line of script.

The hosted cards show who you are. For live values, make your own overlay page: add overlay.js with your token, and give each element a data-apex name. p0 sends the values while you drive.

Fill an element by its name

Position, lap, last and best lap, speed and more. Lap times and positions get their format without code.

14 names in overlay.js
The same ticks as the app

Each race snapshot from p0 sends one tick to the mobile app and to your overlay.

F1: every 2 s. LMU and AMS2: every 5 s
Quiet when you stop

When no session runs, the feed sends an idle frame. Your page gets the event apex:idle and can show a placeholder.

Paused or no session: apex:idle
Who can see my data?

Only a person with your link.

Each link carries your overlay token. The token opens the live values of your current session and nothing more. Keep the links off the screen. Make a new token if a link becomes public.

Regenerate

A new token stops all old links and your own overlay page at once. Then copy the new links.

Put the new token into your own page too
Pause live data

The links stay the same. The feed sends no values until you switch it on again.

A token, not your password

The token reads overlay values only. It cannot sign in, and it cannot change anything.

What it needs

Before your first stream

Full access

The overlays follow your access. Without it, the feed stays idle.

A browser source

OBS, or any tool that shows a web page at 1920 × 1080.

p0 for live values

F1, LMU and AMS2 send ticks. iRacing sends none, so it gets its card only.
