Coaching Reports

Coaching reports use AI to analyze your telemetry data and generate actionable driving advice.

How Reports Are Generated

After a session is uploaded, Apex Racing's analysis engine processes your telemetry to identify patterns, strengths, and areas for improvement. The AI compares your driving against optimal techniques and your own best performance.

Report Categories

Braking

  • Are you braking consistently at the same point each lap?
  • Could you brake later or with more initial pressure?
  • Are you trail braking effectively?

Throttle

  • How smooth is your throttle application on corner exit?
  • Are you getting on the power early enough?
  • Is there unnecessary throttle lift mid-corner?

Cornering

  • Are you carrying enough speed through corners?
  • Is your minimum speed consistent?
  • Are you hitting the apex reliably?

Overall

  • Session-wide observations about consistency and pace
  • Which corners have the most room for improvement
  • Comparisons between your best and average laps

Using Coaching Reports

Reports are meant to guide your practice focus:

  1. Read the summary — understand the overall assessment
  2. Focus on one area — don't try to fix everything at once
  3. Use lap comparison — overlay a good lap with a poor one for the specific corner mentioned
  4. Practice deliberately — spend a session focusing only on the identified weakness
  5. Re-check — run another session and compare the new report to the previous one

Category Badges

Coaching insights are tagged with color-coded category badges:

Category Badge Color What It Covers
Consistency Blue Lap time variation, repeatable braking, sector consistency
Tires Amber Wear rates, temperature management, compound strategy
Fuel Green Consumption efficiency, fuel-saving techniques, weight effect
ERS Yellow Energy deployment and harvesting balance
DRS Purple Activation rate, missed opportunities
Setup Rose Balance tendencies, setup-related observations

Coaching insights with colored category badges

The top 5 insights appear as badges above the session analysis grid. Each insight is a concise, actionable statement (max 15 words) designed to give you an immediate focus area.

Strategy Grade (Race Sessions)

For race sessions, the coaching report includes a strategy grade that evaluates:

  • Pit stop timing — Were stops made at optimal windows?
  • Tire compound choices — Did the compound selection match conditions?
  • Position management — Positions gained or lost through strategy vs pace
  • Safety car response — How pit strategy adapted to safety car periods

The grade ranges from A+ to F, with a numeric score and specific insights about what went well and what could improve.

Acting on Insights

The most effective approach to coaching insights:

  1. Pick one insight — Don't try to fix everything. Choose the one that applies to the most corners or has the biggest time impact.
  2. Check the data — Open Lap Comparison and compare a lap where you did well on that factor vs one where you didn't.
  3. Understand the mechanic — Read the relevant articles: Reading Brakes for braking insights, Reading Throttle for exit insights.
  4. Practice with focus — Run a session focusing only on that one area.
  5. Measure progress — Compare the new session's coaching report to the previous one.
